Laurel's Florals Brand Identity

Loral's Florals Brand Identity Project
Brief:

For this project, I was tasked with creating a brand logo and identity using a nontraditional model to frame our work. To look at design in a different light. By applying found imagery into the logo-making process. Starting with an open mind for finding research before being aware of the prompt. Then using the research to fit the need of the logo design.

Problem/ Prompt:

How can I use an nontraditional design model to create a brand identity.

Challenge:

I initiated the project by conducting extensive research on shapes at my local library that could be incorporated into my logo design. I deliberately maintained the organic nature of the shapes to ensure a versatile range of applications. I then delved into researching suitable color schemes, both by capturing photographs and utilizing existing images from my camera roll, in order to develop appropriate color palettes for my design.

During this phase, I became aware of the requirement to create a brand logo and establish it as an identity. After careful consideration, I opted for a floral shop concept since many of the shapes I had gathered evoked floral imagery.  When crafting the brand identity, I aimed to create a lively and vibrant ambiance for my flower shop, capturing the essence of spring. To reinforce this theme, I employed a vibrant pink and green color palette. Once the logo was finalized, I utilized the same shapes to design patterns for tote bags and incorporated them into other brand elements.

Throughout this project, I gained valuable insights into the research process within design, challenging the conventional approach. This experience provided me with a fresh perspective on effectively researching ideas and incorporating them into my projects.
